Sauerkraut Bake

Sauerkraut Bake

Serves 4

2 cans sauerkraut, drained, rinsed and drained again
4 ounces bacon cut into 1“ pieces
1 onion, chopped
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 Tablespoon dill weed
4 pork chops or 4 servings of sausage links

Brown pork chops or sausage links and set aside. Preheat oven to 350˚. Fry bacon in a skillet and remove to a paper towel to drain. Sauté onion in a little of the bacon grease until clear. Add the brown sugar. Add sauerkraut to the onion mixture and fry for 3-5 minutes. Add onion soup mix, dill weed, bacon and a little water (maybe ½ cup). Let simmer 5 minutes.

Spray baking pan with cooking spray. Lay chops or sausages on bottom and cover with sauerkraut mixture. Cover with foil and bake about 1 hour. Check at 30 minutes to be sure it is not dry, if it is, add a little water.

Use the recipe builder with different amounts of pork chops, and different sausages to find a number that works for you.
